Woodcut on mulberry paper.
During the making of this image, inspired by Scots pines near Dornoch quarry, I discovered John Ruskin's quote from his book 'The Art of Travel' regarding pine trees: he considered them as 'all comfortless ... yet with such iron will' and with a 'dark energy of delicate life and monotony of enchanted pride'.
