Book of the Farm
A series of small images inspired by a mid-19th century handbook on farming. As well as a great deal of practical information and numerous illustrations the book contains lyrical descriptions of the countryside and conditions at various times of year, which led to the inspiration for this series of images. I am interested in the ways that text and image combine - while the fragments of text may not be readable as a coherent whole, there should remain enough visible to combine with the imagery in making a complete experience for the reader/viewer. Which is 'read' first - the words, or the image?
